Know your Body

pcos1

You’d be surprised at what you find out about your body as you get older. Often times when we feel like something is wrong, we ignore it until our symptoms get worse. We then go to the doctor and are told that that we’re delusional and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with us! Well, ladies I’m here to tell you that you are your best doctor. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is a problem that affects 1 in every 10 women. It is a hidden disease that is often not talked about; to find out more, you need to do your research. First, make sure you see a gyno every year for a pap. If things aren’t normal, you need to see an endocrinologist who will assist you in figuring out if something else is wrong. Often times they will do an ultrasound to see if you have any cysts in your ovaries. If you do, you more than likely have PCOS. Other symptoms include: hair thinning, change in skin (acne), weight gain, stomach cramps and headaches.

Please don’t let a doctor tell you there’s nothing wrong with you. Use your womanly instincts and get the help you deserve before things get worse.
